About us

The Loch Vaal Club was established in 1946 and is the oldest surviving club of its type on the Vaal River.

Situated approximately 15km from Vanderbijlpark, close to the Barrage, where some of the best inland boating water in South Africa is found.

Loch Vaal Club provides boating and related recreational facilities to MEMBERS. The club was formed at a meeting held on the veranda of the Loch Vaal Hotel by enthusiastic watersports people, both of the sailing and power boating variety.

The club was established on a leased piece of land on the west end of Cruiser Bay. After purchasing an additional parcel of land the club moved to the present site on the main Loch.

The club originally was a barren stretch of land with a few trees, successive committees and many members have spent many hours developing the club to its current state.

In 1975 the catchment area of the Vaal dam received unprecedented rainfall. In those days the control of flood waters in the Barrage system was not as efficient as it is today and the club flooded causing massive damage. This resulted in the clubhouse being moved back from the water’s edge to its current position.

There have been continuous improvements to the club over the years. These include the upgrading of the boat and petrol jetties, slipways, building a modern caravan park with ablutions, bigger and more boat shelters.

The club offers the following to members:
• Jetties and slipways
• Petrol pumps
• Boat Lockers
• Trampolines
• Club House
• Caravan park
• Clean ablutions
• Clean and well-maintained premises

• A safe environment for children

• Adult and Kiddies Pool

• Braai Facilities

• 2x Kids play areas

• Pool and Table Tennis tables

But most importantly, a place to relax, have fun and meet people.
